Almost got conned by a foreign con man at Sungai Buloh rest area.

It's been a while since I last updated my blog. I found no motivation to blog recently for some reasons. But when I read the news about a foreign con man in last week's newspaper (read this link here: http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2009/1/7/focus/2953109&sec=focus), I can't help feeling the urge to blog about this to warn those staying in Selangor area or those planning to visit KL to be more careful as bf and I had personally experienced getting almost conned in the same way as the victim in the news, had bf not alert enough.

This happened to us some months back when we drove to KL. We pulled over at Sungai Buloh area to switch driver (I wasn't familiar with the roads in KL and wanted bf to drive to the hotel he is staying for his business trip there). When bf walked out the car to the driver's seat, a car approached us. I was already seated in the passenger's seat that time as I only crossed over the seat in the car. In the car, there were 2 male arabians seated in front and one female arabian with a small kid at the back seat. One of the male arabian in the passsenger seat asked bf if he could show him how malaysian ringgit note looked like as he said he only have US dollars with him. He claimed himself as a visitor from Arab and wanted to go to money changer. Bf then pulled out a ten ringgit note. He then walked out from his car and walked towards bf to have a clearer look. He asked bf to show him other denominations. When bf was searching through his wallet, he tried to grab the whole stack of notes from bf's wallet saying he wanted to see the green colour notes. I can see that he tried to pull out the notes very hard, but bf was quick to pulled back at his wallet, preventing him from getting the notes out. When he failed to get the notes out, he scolded bf for being rude and went back to his car. We were shocked instead to see how rude he is.

Beware if any foreign stranger approach you asking you to show him your money. Don't get deceive by the appearance of someone smartly dressed, even if he is accompanied with a woman and a small kid.
